WORKSHOP LOWER BACK/ PELVIS

Lifetime prevalence of back pain is estimated to be 60 – 70% of the population in industrialized countries. Back pain is currently the leading cause of activity limitation and work absence throughout much of the world. 

Yoga therapy has shown to improve back pain, stabilizing, strengthening and balancing the musculature of the back, as well as relaxing tension out of overworked muscle groups, and may be more effective and longer-lasting than medical treatment.

This workshop will cover common issues and their treatments for different kinds of back pain, exercises for flexibility and strength, will be given for mid- and lower back, as well as pelvis and hips. Scoliosis, lordosis, sciatica, hyperflexibility and (thus hip/pelvic stability) will be addressed. 

This workshop is also suitable for individuals interested in back pain prevention. Particularly helpful for people who both have desk jobs, and who do heavy labor and/or repetitive tasks.

About our guest teacher Kat Walker:
Katherine is an experienced yoga teacher (300 E-RYT), and Nutritionist (MSc). Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, USA, she came to Belgium at the age of 26 to complete her masters in Public Health Nutrition, and to work as a Health Researcher. She fell in love with Ghent – and stayed! Teaching yoga slowly became more than a part-time hobby job. 8 years later, and now a full-time yoga teacher – she teaches workshops, lectures and leads yearly yoga retreats in Europe.
